THRIVING PLASTICS MOLDER ACQUIRES AWARD-WINNING COMPETITOR TO EXPAND CAPACITY AND ACCELERATE GROWTH OF CUSTOM OEM DIVISION
New Facility Replaces Two Plants To Speed Production, Cut Costs

Saddle Brook, NJ: Innovative plastics rotomolder Meese Orbitron Dunne Company (MOD) has purchased award-winning plastics rotomolder American Rotational Molding Group, Inc. (ARM), Anaheim, Calif., in an all cash transaction that will increase the company's West Coast capacity by 500%, enhance shipping efficiencies nationally and accelerate the growth of the MOD Custom Molding Services Division. Combining expertise in the design and production of large parts up to 16 feet long and in small parts measured in ounces, the acquisition enables MOD to serve a complete range of diverse OEM needs nationally while creating efficiencies in product development, production and shipping.

The MOD Custom Molding Services Division specializes in the design, engineering and manufacture of plastic products for demanding applications that often require superior strength and structural integrity such as fuel tanks, containers, toys and recreational equipment and has earned double-digit growth every year since 1994, compelling MOD to expand its two Midwest facilities in 1998. ARM, a perennial Association of Rotational Molders award-winner and this year's "Product of the Year" recipient, brings significant engineering expertise and acclaimed production abilities. ARM also brings to MOD a proprietary line of pedestals, columns, urns and accessories with a commanding share of the rental, floral and banquet markets, as well as a pipeline of innovations in development.

With the acquisition, two Los Angeles-area MOD and ARM plants will move into a new, state-of-the-art, 55,000 square-foot facility featuring five rotomolding machines and in-house engineering, operations and administrative staff. Designed with an automated mixing, blending and coloring line and ample resin storage space on-site, the new facility delivers important material handling efficiencies that will contribute to a 50% increase in production while streamlining costs and enhancing the company's Just-In-Time delivery services, according to Ron Midili, president of MOD.

"Gordon (Sanden) and his team at ARM have consistently delivered a superior level of quality and innovation that not only captures the attention of award judges but also of their customers," says Mr. Midili, who spearheaded three previous acquisitions to form MOD. Adds Mr. Sanden, general manager, "Joining forces with MOD creates a powerful company with the expertise, capacity and national infrastructure to serve the creative and budgetary needs of the OEM while driving the expansion of our proprietary line into new markets. We feel 2001 will be a landmark year."

The acquisition will likely catapult MOD into the top 10 of Plastics News' ranking of the country's largest rotational molders from number 16.

MOD operates four manufacturing facilities in La Mirada, California; Saddle Brook, New Jersey; Ashtabula, Ohio; and Madison, Indiana.

MOD was founded in the 1930's as Meese, Inc., is a founding member of the Association of Rotational Molders and its clients include IBM, UPS, Disney, PPG and Philip Morris. ARM was founded in 1957 and has earned nearly a dozen international awards for clients such as FedEx, Hobie Cat and Airborne Express.
